MIDNIGHTREBELS-WEIRD GENIUS

Music and Gaming Combined in a New Video by Weird Genius

A team of e-sports players joined forces with the Indonesian trio last October for a match in the MPL X Legends Assemble.

Indonesian trio Weird Genius collaborated with e-sports players for the MPL X Legends Assemble match last October, and now they’ve released a new music video in celebration of the fifth anniversary of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB). While the match was taking place, the video was being streamed live, and it fuses electronic grooves with traditional Indonesian instruments as well as the world of gaming.

With songs such as ‘Dawn of the Moon,’ “Future Ghost,” “Peanut Butter,” and “Lathi,” they take their audience through four of their most popular songs. The performance was sponsored by Resso Indonesia and featured four of their most popular songs. The video has received nearly 150,000 views as a result of the popularity of Weird Genius in Indonesia, according to the creators. Take a look at it below:

With the release of ‘Lathi,’ Weird Genius shot to prominence in the year 2020. The song, which featured Surabaya-based singer Sara Fajira, who added Javanese lyrics to the song, has received 123 million views on YouTube and another 749 million views on TikTok. In fact, to say that the song went viral would be an understatement, as Weird Genius has gone on to smash charts with some of the songs featured in the video above, demonstrating that their brand of EDM is the sound of Indonesia.

Moreover, this is not the first time that the organization has dabbled in the world of e-sports. For the Indonesian mobile launch of gaming behemoth RIOT’s latest title, ‘League of Legends: Wild Rift,’ they collaborated with Singaporean singer Tabitha Nauser on the song ‘All In,’ which was released in 2019.
