WMG has purchased a large parcel of land on The Sandbox, where digital concerts and festivals will be held, allowing the record label to establish itself as a pioneer in the field and set the standard for others to follow. This partnership with The Sandbox will entitle the powerhouse to become one of over 200 existing partners who have already made investments in the metaverse, including deadmau5, Steve Aoki, Snoop Dogg, and other well-known artists.
This purchase benefits WMG artists by allowing them to perform without limitations and to create shows that are beyond the imaginations of their fans. The digital real estate has been described as “part virtual real estate, part amusement park,” but there have been no images of the property released so far. Because it will take place in the metaverse, fans from all over the world will be able to attend. No one will be left behind. It will provide international fans with a unique opportunity to form a more personal connection with their favorite WMG artist in an innovative manner.
As a result of the strategic partnership, The Sandbox becomes the first independent music label to work with a major music company. To commemorate the occasion, The Sandbox will hold a Land sale in March 2022, which will allow music fans to purchase highly sought-after parcels of land adjacent to the Warner Music property.
