Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck Release New Single
Johnny Depp, the renowned actor and musician, has teamed up with English guitarist Jeff Beck for a cover of “The Death and Resurrection Show.” Originally performed by Killing Joke, the song first appeared on Killing Joke’s self-titled 2003 album. This release marks another exciting step in Depp and Beck’s collaboration.
Upcoming Collaborative Album
Depp and Beck previously announced their collaborative album, 18, slated for release on July 15. This new single is likely to be included, alongside other covers such as their rendition of Velvet Underground’s “Venus in Furs.”
Inspiration Behind the Album
Jeff Beck, when asked about their creative process, was quoted by NME as saying, “When Johnny and I started playing together, it really ignited our youthful spirit and creativity. We would joke about how we felt 18 again, so that just became the album title too.”
A Unique Interpretation
Beck and Depp’s cover significantly differs from the 2003 original. While the original has a straightforward rock style, their version incorporates electronic elements and various sound effects, resulting in a distinct atmosphere. The tempo is also faster, changing the overall feel of the track.
Post-Legal Battle Release
The new cover arrives shortly after the conclusion of the legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The upcoming album also features “This Is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr,” one of the few tracks written by Depp himself.
