UMG AND MEDRHYTHMS JOIN FOR “PRESCRIPTION MUSIC” TO TREAT NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS

The partnership, which is the first of its kind, aims to use music to treat neurological diseases.

MedRhythms, a digital therapeutics company, has been developing cutting-edge technology that uses sensors, software, and music to help patients who have lost brain function as a result of neurological disease or illness regain it. As a result of its partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG), the cutting-edge company now has access to perhaps the most extensive and diverse musical catalog in the world, allowing it to advance this treatment even further.

MedRhythms believes that music has the potential to have a profound impact on and heal the brain by targeting specific neural pathways that aid in the enhancement of the brain’s plasticity, or ability to adjust. Due to the addition of UMG to the company’s roster, the company will now have access to an extensive library of music spanning many genres and cultures, including everything from Bob Marley to Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande to Andrea Bocelli, and more.

MedRhythms will also gain access to data and analytics to aid in the treatment of patients, as well as pursue its vision of a world in which music literally heals, as a result of the groundbreaking collaboration. The treatment has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, making this partnership the first of its kind in providing actual prescription music to treat stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and other conditions.
