K/DA HIT A HOME RUN WITH RIAA
K/DA, the virtual pop girl trio from League of Legends, is experiencing a momentous period of growth. According to the Recording Industry Association of America, receiving gold certification is a significant achievement. In order to receive gold certification, a digital single must receive at least 500,000 unique downloads during its promotional period. A single unit is comprised of 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams available on demand.
Riot Games Music just announced that the smash tune POP/STARS by K/DA has achieved gold certification. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the music, Riot Games has included a link in their Twitter status below that allows you to listen to it for free.
The song was first published in 2018, and it has since gained widespread popularity among fans of League of Legends as well as K-pop fans in general. According to Dot Esports, POP/STARS received more than 13 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours after the song was uploaded to the platform. They go on to say that the music video has currently received over 452 million views, indicating that it has retained its appeal.
Riot Games has achieved success in more than just music, as they recently announced that they had achieved $100 million in revenue from mobile games, thanks to the release of League of Legends: Wild Rift. This is quite impressive considering that Riot Games only released their first mobile game in March of last year. We look forward to seeing where Riot Games finds its next big hit.
