&Friends Festival 2026 proves Philippine ravers are ready for global dance music scale

Serving as an explosive wake-up call for the Philippine electronic music industry, &Friends Fest 2026 united local generations and international tourists under the Okada dome for two massive nights of absolute crowd synchronicity.

The Philippine electronic dance music scene is entering a major shift. Standing at the center of this movement is &Friends Festival, an event that evolved from a sleeping giant into a powerhouse. Following a two-night run at the Okada dome, the 2026 edition served as a clear wakeup call that local ravers are fully ready for heavy-hitting festival experiences.

The trajectory makes sense given the foundation built by the team. I remember when festival owner Justin Banusing and our senior editor Jared Celemin talked at a Dimdim after-party after the 2025 edition. Justin spoke with genuine sincerity about the movement, sharing deep gratitude for his crew and the local community who backed the vision early on. That community-first focus is exactly why the 2026 event hit so hard.

As media partners for both editions, we wanted to make sure that energy extended straight back into the scene. Together we ran a community outreach program designed to give aspiring local artists an actual opportunity to play at the biggest festival in the country. Instead of a basic popularity contest, we structured a competition that evaluated their taste in music as a DJ alongside their technical music production skills, providing direct support to the local talent pool.

Looking out from my standby spot at the third-floor cabana of the Okada dome, the crowd energy was undeniable. The standout element for me was the absolute synchronicity of the ravers. The audience met every single track with identical intensity, regardless of the electronic subgenre the DJs threw down.

On the B-Side

If I have to be frank, this year also showed maturity in how the event ran. I noticed the brand partnerships aligned properly with the actual identity of the festival, building genuine trust. When sponsors fit the subculture naturally instead of feeling forced, it changes the entire environment for the better.

While I was shooting video and taking notes at the same time, I watched the dancefloor bridge every demographic. The music completely wiped out any generational gap, with Gen Z dancing right alongside the veteran titos and titas. It sounds cliché, but true PLUR was completely present across both nights.

Crucially, I noticed that &Friends Fest is drawing global attention. This edition brought in a heavy wave of tourists from Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, and Spain, delivering a solid boost to the local economy. Beyond attracting foreign ravers, the lineup supported aspiring international DJs, giving outside talent a direct taste of what the country has to offer.

Moving forward, I think &Friends Fest is only getting bigger as the years go by. Watching this giant wake up is massive for the local industry, and it would be absolutely sick if I get to play on one of those stages myself one day.
