Gorillaz and Thundercat Release New Song, “Cracker Island”

The musical collaboration between Gorillaz and Thundercat has produced a new track titled “Cracker Island.” This exciting new song blends dance-funk with a raw, dark wave edge, creating a unique and captivating sound. The bass-heavy groove is tempered by a certain roughness, resulting in a frenetic yet controlled energy.

The song’s title, “Cracker Island,” is a reference to a Caribbean island, adding an intriguing layer to the overall composition. Thundercat contributes his signature bass lines and vocals, complementing Damon Albarn’s vocals. The production of the track is credited to Greg Kurstin and Remi Kabaka, Jr.

Release and Promotion

Gorillaz debuted “Cracker Island” live in April 2022, at the start of their global tour in Uruguay. The song marks the band’s first new music release of 2022, following their three-track EP, “Meanwhile,” and a box set commemorating the 20th anniversary of their debut album. Their previous album, “Song Machine: Season One — Strange Timez,” was a compilation of star-studded collaborations released in October 2020.
