In a recent announcement, Future Female Sounds (FFS), a non-profit dedicated to increasing the accessibility of DJing to women, gender minorities, and non-binary people, announced the opening of a new DJ Academy!
A statement on the organization’s website states that “After training nearly 500 new female, non-binary, and gender minority DJs in several countries across continents, our dream of building an Academy with an actual 3-month long educational graduating course is coming true.”

Tuborgfondet, a Danish foundation that contributed more than $270,300 to the project, assisted FFS in the opening of the Academy in Copenhagen, Denmark. A DJ training course, mentorships with music industry professionals, public talks, livestreams, and performances for students are all part of the course curriculum.
Those who identify as female or non-binary are welcome to attend the Academy, which is free to attend. Twenty percent of the school’s admissions are reserved for underprivileged youth from the Nørrebro neighborhood of Copenhagen, where the academy is located.
“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to develop talent through the DJ Academy, where we will also be able to connect them directly to the music industry, in order to support their long-term careers.” says the DJ Academy founder. – Tia Korpe, the director and founder of Future Female Sounds.
