The Chainsmokers to Perform in Space in 2024
Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, who make up the duo, have indicated that they are interested in taking advantage of the opportunity. They will be traveling 20 miles above the surface of the earth in a pressurized capsule that is attached to a stratospheric balloon.
The act comes after an astronaut from the European Space Agency (ESA) named Luca Parmitano made history in 2019 by being the first person to DJ in space.
Ryan Hartman, chief executive officer of World View, a stratospheric space travel tourism company that is cooperating on the project, expressed to the Associated Press his hope that sending artists into space for the first time may “inspire them to do something different than they would have otherwise done.”
“We think about inspiring new perspectives and how those new perspectives can lead to a radically improved future for our Earth. To be able to reach the audience of The Chainsmokers through Alex and Drew’s work contributes to our mission as well. It’s something that I’m personally inspired by and excited about.”

The performance of the duo will be captured inside the capsule during one of the first flights of World View, which are scheduled to take place in 2024, and then made available to fans all across the world below.
