Electronic music duo The Chainsmokers, composed of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, are set to perform in space in 2024. This groundbreaking event will see them traveling 20 miles above the Earth’s surface in a pressurized capsule attached to a stratospheric balloon.
Setting a New Standard for Space Entertainment
This performance follows the historic 2019 event where European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Luca Parmitano became the first person to DJ in space. The Chainsmokers’ performance aims to raise the bar even higher, bringing a new level of artistic expression to the final frontier.
World View’s Vision
Ryan Hartman, CEO of World View, the stratospheric space travel tourism company collaborating on this project, spoke to the Associated Press, expressing his belief that sending artists into space can inspire creative innovation. He stated, “We think about inspiring new perspectives and how those new perspectives can lead to a radically improved future for our Earth. To be able to reach the audience of The Chainsmokers through Alex and Drew’s work contributes to our mission as well. It’s something that I’m personally inspired by and excited about.”
Performance Details and Global Reach
The Chainsmokers’ performance will be filmed within the capsule during one of World View’s inaugural flights, scheduled for 2024. This performance will then be shared with fans worldwide.
