Red Hot Chili Peppers Drop Surprise Album, ‘Return of the Dream Canteen’
The Red Hot Chili Peppers surprised fans with the announcement of their new album, “Return Of The Dream Canteen,” set for release on October 14 via Warner Records. The album is produced by Rick Rubin. Pre-orders are available here.
In a statement, the band shared their excitement: “We went in search of ourselves as the band that we have somehow always been. We got together to play some old tunes and jam for no reason other than to have fun. We did not wait long before we began the strange process of constructing new music. A lovely example of how chemistry can play tricks on you, this one had helped us out hundreds of times along the way.”

The announcement coincided with the start of their North American tour at Denver’s Empower Field. The band previously launched their stadium tour in Seville, Spain at Estadio La Cartuja in June. During their 18-song set, they debuted five new songs from their album “Unlimited Love,” including “Aquatic Mouth Dance,” “Here Ever After,” “These Are The Ways,” and “Whatchu Thinkin’.” “Black Summer” served as the album’s lead single. The performance included classics such as “Can’t Stop,” “Californication,” and “Give It Away.”
The concert concluded with a two-song encore featuring “Under the Bridge” and “By the Way.”
