Off-White and Pioneer: A Collaborative Capsule Collection

Virgil Abloh, the founder of Off-White, is known for his multifaceted creative endeavors. From his work at Louis Vuitton to furniture design and DJing, his collaborations are always highly anticipated. This partnership with Pioneer DJ is no different. The result is a unique capsule collection and a custom DJ controller reflecting Abloh’s passion for music.

The DDJ-1000-OW DJ Controller

The collaboration centers around a customized Pioneer DDJ-1000 DJ controller, reimagined as the DDJ-1000-OW. This special edition features Off-White’s signature design elements, employing a striking white and orange color scheme. The controller reflects Abloh’s “SOUND ENGINEERING” philosophy. Key design features include the use of quotation marks, dual branding across the surfaces, and the retention of the familiar four-channel layout from the original DDJ-1000. It inherits setup features from both the CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2.

The “SOUND ENGINEERING” Capsule Collection

Beyond the DJ controller, the collection includes apparel under the “SOUND ENGINEERING” banner. This line features cotton canvas T-shirts, hoodies, and a coach jacket. The fluorescent green silk-screen prints draw inspiration from both Off-White and Pioneer’s heritage, as well as the collaborative DDJ-1000-OW design. These graphics are incorporated into the apparel, alongside the signature Off-White cross.

In a statement, Virgil Abloh discussed the collaboration, stating, “I wanted to take this opportunity to bring together technology and human interaction. Both music and fashion, in my opinion, are intense forces with the unique power to bring people together while letting you make your own statement all at the same time.”
