NEW BALLET TO BE SCORED BY DAFT PUNK’S THOMAS BANGALTER

It was the silver lining, if there was one, when Daft Punk announced their official split earlier this year that the disbanding would give the visionary producers more time to pursue their own independent projects, if there was one at all. While the world was in shock following the announcement, with fans and inspired producers alike paying tribute to their idols, it appears that Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter has already begun working on his next project.

TRON: Legacy, Irréversible, Riga, and Climax are among the films for which Bangalter has composed music, both as a solo artist and as a member of the electronic band Daft Punk. After providing the score for Mythologies, Bangalter will now be extending his production expertise to include ballet.

Bordeaux, France’s Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux will host the ballet next year from July 1st to 10th, and the performance will be held in English. The Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine will perform Bangalter’s score for the ballet, which will run for 90 minutes. Romain Dumas will serve as musical director for the production. In accordance with the ballet’s website, the ballet “explores contemporary rituals and the founding myths that shape the collective imagination.” According to the ballet’s website, the ballet is choreographed by Angelin Preljocaj.
