In Sansar, You Can Virtually Attend Concerts During a Global Pandemic

Today, where jumping into large crowds isn’t exactly the safest or smartest thing to do, attending concerts from the comfort of your own home may be the most convenient and safest way to see your favorite bands perform live.

The Rise of Virtual Concerts

The global pandemic dramatically increased the demand for digital concerts. Artists, labels, and production companies adapted by filming shows in various locations—warehouses, empty venues—and broadcasting them worldwide. While this approach proved successful for many acts, both free and ticketed, some music fans longed for a more engaging experience.

Sansar: A New Era of Virtual Concerts

Many people fondly remember the excitement of live music—the energy of the crowd, the thrill of a mosh pit. Sansar, a digital world platform, offers a solution. It provides virtual worlds where users can attend concerts and interact with artists and friends in real time.

Think of it as similar to The Sims, but instead of everyday life, you’re virtually partying with your favorite artists. And by ‘partying,’ we mean experiencing a concert unbound by the usual laws of physics.

Sansar’s Vision: Redefining Live Music

According to Sam Distaso, Vice President of Business Development at Sansar, live music is primed to benefit greatly from virtual experiences. He explains that “Every festival production strives to create a sense of presence, enhancing the visuals to complement the already excellent audio and music.” He adds, “In Sansar, we have a unique advantage: the laws of physics don’t apply. This allows us to take audiences on unprecedented journeys, fully immersing them in the music.”

Sansar’s Development and Platform

Created by Linden Lab, the developers behind Second Life, Sansar was built from the ground up, with its own engine, platform, and renderer. This foresight, anticipating the mainstream adoption of gaming, rapidly transformed Sansar into a platform ideal for hosting live events.

Sansar’s Accessibility and Features

Distaso emphasizes Sansar’s goal: “We aim to serve anyone wanting to host events in this digitally engaging environment.” He continues, “Any brand or promoter can participate, owning and customizing their venue for repeated use.”

Sansar transcends geographical and capacity limits. It brings concerts to VR, PC, and mobile, potentially reaching millions of fans. The platform also includes interactive sponsor booths, revenue opportunities for artists, and merchandise sales.

Beyond Music: Expanding Sansar’s Reach

Sansar’s appeal extends beyond music. It hosts various events, such as comedy shows, esports tournaments, community gatherings, and corporate events. Distaso concludes, “We provide the tools and technology platform so event organizers can use their own attendees or employees, designing the event exactly as they wish, with a strong sense of ownership.”
