Ceboom: A Fresh Music Video Celebrating Cebu’s Thriving Culture
Cebuano artists ELEMINO & DŒZA released the music video for their single, “Ceboom,” on September 20, 2024, showcasing Cebu City’s vibrant culture. Since its release, “Ceboom” has become a staple in Cebu’s nightlife, praised for its unique sound and festive atmosphere.
A Unique Baile Funk Sound
The track, featuring an infectious Baile or Brazilian funk sound, has already taken Cebu’s club scene by storm. ELEMINO & DŒZA share their creative process behind the track and music video.
Audience Reaction and Artistic Vision
The duo explained that the song’s opening lyrics always get the biggest reaction, eliciting laughter and surprise before building to a powerful party atmosphere—their intended goal.
I wanted something loud, chaotic, and high-octane—something so infectious you couldn’t help but dance to it. – ELEMINO
We wanted to create something that truly captures the essence of Cebu, from its iconic landmarks to its lively festivals, to showcase the city’s spirit. We aimed for a song that people can connect with and enjoy, regardless of their origin. – DŒZA
Showcasing Cebu City
The music video features stunning visuals of Cebu City, including iconic landmarks like the Parian Monument and Cebu Capitol Building, as well as the bustling city streets. These colorful visuals complement the song’s upbeat tempo. The artists credit producer Vince Lucero for his contribution to their vision during a studio session earlier this year.
Behind the Scenes
Collaborating with creative friend, Kester Hamoy, who had previously worked with them on another music video, the team initially considered a more artistic approach. However, they ultimately opted for a fast-paced style that reflects both the song’s high-octane feel and Cebu’s essence. The music video features three central elements: DŒZA, ELEMINO, and Cebu itself, showcasing both familiar and lesser-known locations. The location scouting process provided the team with a renewed appreciation for Cebu’s beauty.
Bisdak Sound and Cultural Identity
“Ceboom” is a celebration of Cebuano culture, with catchy lyrics and a catchy beat. The song’s unapologetic Bisdak sound, combined with its infectious energy, is sure to become a favorite among music fans. DŒZA explains their aim to capture the raw feeling of partying in Cebu.
We wanted to capture that blunt, raw intensity—phrases like ‘yawa’ and ‘atay’ express how we party here, getting people to dance without any shame. – DŒZA
ELEMINO & DŒZA eagerly anticipate “Ceboom’s” global reception, hoping it becomes a significant hit leading up to Cebu’s biggest festival, Sinulog.
