Strodano’s Latest Single with M1ss Jade So Signs on Ely Buendia’s Offshore Music

With the scope of the Philippines’ music scene constantly showcasing growth, performer duo STRODANO collaborates with M1ss Jade So for their new single ‘Power Top Na Bratzy’. It had come a long way for the collaboration to happen to which it signed with Offshore Music, spearheaded by Eraserheads’ frontman, Ely Buendia.

Strodano and M1ss Jade So’s “Power Top Na Bratzy” Released on Offshore Music

“Power Top Na Bratzy” is a unique track that deviates from the typical house music often associated with drag artists. The song features dark and gritty basslines, combined with M1ss Jade So‘s powerful vocals, creating a distinctive listening experience. STRODANO‘s production seamlessly blends tech house and mainstage house, resulting in a track that is both danceable and thought-provoking.

The Collaboration

The collaboration between Strodano and M1ss Jade So began unexpectedly. Strodano was immediately drawn to M1ss Jade So’s unique style, and they quickly discovered a mutual passion for music. This led to a creative exchange and the decision to collaborate. Midnight Rebels spoke with John Sedano of Strodano to learn more about the creation of “Power Top Na Bratzy.”

M1ss Jade So had just finished her run with RuPaul’s Drag Race Philippines…she actually went to a tattoo shop in Poblacion, Makati where we met her. She opened up about making her own music…we asked her to play what type of songs she’d want to make or listen to…she played…some…tech house tracks. We were actually surprised because it is actually what we love doing…it was a no-brainer so we talked about collaborating.

The Recording Process

The collaborative process involved a back-and-forth exchange of ideas, with Strodano shaping the sound to complement M1ss Jade So’s vocal style. M1ss Jade So recorded her vocals at Waxiefied Sound, the Philippines’ first Dolby Atmos Studio, and continually sent ideas to Strodano, which helped shape the final product. This eventually led to a deal with Offshore Music. Sedano describes the experience as surreal.

Waxie, who happens to be the owner of Waxiefied Sound, knew people from Sony Music and told them that [M1ss] Jade So is recording her single here [and] she’s planning to release it. It kind of snowballed from there [so] Sony Music got in touch with the management of M1ss Jade and the next thing we knew Offshore wants to sign the track of M1ss Jade So together with STRODANO.

Overcoming Challenges and Label Partnership

Midnight Rebels asked about the challenges of the creative process, given the potential genre differences between the track and Offshore Music’s existing catalog. John Sedano shared his thoughts.

Actually, we didn’t want to release it in any record label and the plan was to go indie and keep making songs until someone picks us up. But, yeah. In a span of a month and a half, it was Offshore who offered to sign the track. And funny thing was we had just finished recording the clean vocals in Offshore’s studio, at Ely Buendia’s house. We literally just saw him walking around his house and recording in his studio. So it was pretty surreal.

Strodano emphasizes that Offshore Music prioritizes music quality regardless of genre. This highlights the label’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity, providing artists like Strodano and M1ss Jade So the freedom to create on their terms.
