Boiler Room
Definition
Originally a literal boiler room in East London where founder Blaise Bellville started livestreaming intimate, no-frills DJ sets in 2010 — now shorthand for that entire format: a small, sweaty crowd packed close around the booth, filmed in a single continuous take with almost no production polish. Became one of the biggest tastemaker platforms in electronic music precisely because it stripped away the festival-stage spectacle and just showed the DJ and the room.
