Downtown Lounge Reimagined: Cagayan de Oro’s Nightlife Elevated
Cagayan de Oro’s DTL (Downtown Lounge) recently reopened after a significant expansion. This popular venue, a hub of Cagayan de Oro’s nightlife, has always aimed to provide high-quality experiences for its patrons. Currently, in collaboration with MIDNIGHT REBELS, DTL is hosting the MIDNIGHT PLAYGROUND, featuring guest artists Curse & Bless, Jezrelle, and DTL’s resident artists RB Banaag, Kyle Banaag, Lot G, Lexter, and Eddy Steady.
DTL, founded by nightlife enthusiasts, recognized a need for more exciting entertainment options in Cagayan de Oro’s city center. Driven by customer demand and feedback, they undertook significant renovations to increase capacity and enhance the overall experience. The venue offers a modern atmosphere designed for relaxation and socializing.
The Story Behind DTL
Cagayan de Oro is a major city in Mindanao, known for its active nightlife scene. DTL quickly became a popular destination for locals seeking entertainment. After facing initial challenges, DTL decided to expand. Francis Gelay of DTL explained:
One of the founders, Brylle, noticed a gap in the nightlife scene in downtown CDO. We wanted to bring back a fun spot in the center of the city where people could enjoy themselves.
Further patron feedback revealed the need for more space to accommodate growing crowds and ensure everyone’s comfort.
DTL’s Unique Culture
DTL provides a sophisticated atmosphere where guests can celebrate and relax. The focus is on shared experiences, enhanced by high-quality music and performances.
Our goal is to create a welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy great music and performances from top artists.
The experience is elevated with expertly prepared food and drinks. DTL’s commitment to hosting events and featuring top Filipino artists from across the Philippines creates a unique and memorable experience for patrons.
The expansion has greatly enhanced the artists’ performances. Resident DJs RB and Kyle Banaag highlighted the positive reception to the improved venue, noting that the extra space allows guests to unwind and relax.
DTL’s DJs are gradually introducing guests to deeper cuts within dance music.
We throw out bits of new tracks, new genres, as a part of educating the new generation of party-goers. We expect to see mixed reactions from the crowd to better curate a playlist fit for the crowd each night.

The expanded space and stage placement improve audience engagement and allow DJs to better read the crowd, further refining their music selection.
Future Goals: Cultivating Artists and Expansion
DTL continues to develop its concept and refine its offerings. Looking to the future, the venue plans to expand its reach and opportunities for artists.
In the coming years, we plan to invite more top talents and discover emerging young artists to perform at our bar. Additionally, we hope to establish more branches across the Philippines, bringing our unique nightlife experience to even more people.
