WHEN WILL ‘THE LAST OF US’ MULTIPLAYER BE RELEASED?

Naughty Dog has stated that it will reveal its The Last of Us multiplayer game “as soon as it is ready.”

Rochelle Synder, Naughty Dog’s senior manager of communications, explained what’s going on with multiplayer in a blog post on the Naughty Dog website to commemorate The Last of Us Day (which was celebrated on September 26).

“We’re working on it,” she began, before pointing out that the team has taken note of “the community comments, which indicate that many of you are clamoring for multiplayer and updates.” She went on to say that “we are excited about what the team is developing and want to give them the time they need to complete their ambitious project; we will share more information when it is ready!”

Accordingly, the team is expanding and is “currently in full swing of hiring for MP-related positions,” with Synder including a link to the job page to entice any qualified applicants to submit their resumes immediately. Several dozens of different positions across a wide range of disciplines are currently listed on the jobs page.

For the time being, however, players will have to wait a little longer to learn more about what Naughty Dog has in store for its multiplayer project set in the world of The Last of Us.

Whether the project will be a standalone release or will be included in a new sequel is unknown at this time, but Naughty Dog stated in a series of tweets in 2019 that The Last of Us Part II would not include multiplayer, so don’t expect to see it in that game either. Despite the fact that datamined information suggested that it may have had a battle royale mode at one point, the game has not included one.

In other The Last of Us news, HBO’s live-action series based on the game has revealed a great deal more information than previously known.
