A slew of exciting projects were announced at The Game Awards last night, but perhaps the most visually striking of the bunch didn’t come from a major developer or publisher, which is surprising. A new exploration game from the small Montreal-based developer Scavengers Studio, Season is absolutely stunning on the outside and on the inside as well.
A brief trailer gives the impression of a beautiful and melancholy journey. A young hero rides around on a bike, recording unusual wildlife with a notebook, a camera, and various other interesting gadgets along the way. Beautiful lighting, expansive skies, ruins, overgrown highways, distant farms, and a gloomy atmosphere pervade the landscape.
Season is scheduled to release on PC (via Steam) and PlayStation in the near future. The PS5 is the only console mentioned in the debut trailer, but it’s possible that a PS4 version is also in the works (although this isn’t confirmed at this time).
