Following its initial release in pre-season earlier this month, the mobile game Rocket League Sideswipe is now being made available to consumers on iOS and Android devices all across the world, according to 9to5Mac. The side-scrolling auto soccer game, which was released earlier this year as a mobile, 2D version of Rocket League, allows you to compete against other players in two-on-two bouts with your buddies.
Like the original, Sideswipe is all about living the car soccer dream, but this time from a 2D side-on perspective rather than a 3D one. It makes use of touch controls that are supposed to be simple to grasp, with more complicated control techniques available for more experienced gamers. There is a ranking system, much like in the original, as well as several car customization choices. The game is available for free on mobile devices, with in-app purchases available for the Rocket Pass and cosmetics.
As with the pre-season trailer, the official gameplay video maintains a similar look and feel to the original, but has been simplified for mobile play to make it more accessible. You can gain more XP in both the main Rocket League game and Sideswipe if you log in with your Epic Games account when playing online matches. The game was initially released in Oceania during the pre-season to work out any flaws, but it is now available to everyone on the iOS App Store and Google Play.
