NINTENDO SWITCH FITNESS BOXING ANIME IS IN DEVELOPMENT

Fitness Boxing, a Nintendo Switch game, will be the subject of an anime adaptation in Japan starting in October.

According to Comic Natalie, the new Fitness Boxing anime, produced by Funimation, will consist of 12 five-minute comedy shorts that will air on a weekly basis in Japan starting on October 1. The episodes will reportedly follow the daily lives of the virtual coaches, with the game’s original voice cast returning to reprise their popular instructor roles for the upcoming anime series, according to the official description.

The voice cast for the show, which is reportedly titled Kimi to Fit Boxing, includes Akari Kita as Karen, Akira Ishida as Hiro, Rie Kugimiya as Janice, Saori Hayami as Lin, Yichi Nakamura as Evan, Sumire Uesaka as Martina, Ami Koshimizu as Sophie, Atsuko Tanaka as Laura, and Akio Ohtsuka as Bernardo.

Junpei Morita, also known by his pen name Morita to Jumpei, is in charge of the series’ direction. He previously directed the musical fantasy anime series Lost Song, which was made available for streaming on Netflix in 2018. Ysuke Shirato is composing the music for the episodes, which will be broadcast on TOKYO MX in their initial broadcast.

In December of last year, Imagineer released a sequel to the original Fitness Boxing game, which was developed by the same team that created the original. While listening to instrumental versions of popular pop songs, players are encouraged to pick up their Joy-Con controllers, choose music and courses, and engage in a variety of boxing exercises.

At this time, there has been no announcement of an international release for the Fitness Boxing anime, though this could change in the future as anime has become an increasingly popular genre for major streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu. Crunchyroll and Funimation, two dedicated streaming platforms that recently merged to form one, are examples of what the country has to offer.
