With its release last week on January 28, the latest Pokémon game takes a more open-world approach to the traditional formula, and players appear to be on board with the new direction the franchise is taking.
Indeed, the title accounted for nearly half of all boxed game sales in the United Kingdom during the first week after its release, and it has since joined other Nintendo Switch titles in dominating the market overall.
According to the official Nintendo of America Twitter, “Thank you to the more than 6.5million explorers worldwide who have already embarked on an exciting new adventure in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.”
Nintendo’s most recent financial reports contained no significant data due to the release of the new Pokémon game; however, there were some other noteworthy milestones and statements made during the period under consideration.
Surprisingly, the Nintendo Switch has now outsold the Wii, despite the fact that the Wii has only a few years left on its lifespan. Despite the fact that it is technically a hybrid of a home console and a portable device, the Nintendo Switch is Nintendo’s second most popular home console, trailing only the 154.02million units sold of the Nintendo DS.
Another development is the release of a free Pokémon sound library that can be used for “personal video and music creation” after Nintendo was forced to take down tens of thousands of YouTube videos that featured the game’s music.
