For those who are unfamiliar with the episode, the Steamed Hams scene can be found in Season 7, Episode 21 – “22 Short Films About Springfield,” which is a short story about Principal Skinner and Superintendent Chalmers. Skinner invites Chalmers over for dinner, and when he accidentally burns the meal, he chooses to cover up his mistake by telling ever-increasing lies. After picking up a few burgers from Krusty Burger, he deceived Chalmers into believing he had stated that they would be having “steamed hams” instead of “steamed clams,” among other things.
According to GamesRadar, Steamed Hams: The Graphic Adventure is intended to pay homage to the scene from The Simpsons that has since become one of the show’s most enduring memes, and it is designed to play similarly to a classic LucasArts adventure game such as Monkey Island or Maniac Mansion.
Currently, you can try out the game for free at Game Jolt, and each line is taken from either the episode itself, The Simpsons: Hit and Run, or from another episode where a few new lines were required. Furthermore, the sprites were taken from The Simpsons Arcade Game and slightly modified for use in this game. Despite the fact that there isn’t a lot of freedom in the game, it does what it sets out to do exceptionally well and is a pleasure to play.
